Sunny Beaches Filled With Color: Parasols!
I was busy painting different subjects at the time it was so hot. Nearly missed painting the crowded beaches.
But I got lucky several days. Here is ‘Sunny Parasols Beach’.
This painting is available for purchase, like many of them are of course, at www.roosschuring.art
That’s my gallery website. You can find a lot of new seascapes added there.

‘Sunny Parasols Beach’
Roos Schuring, oil on canvas, 24 × 30 cm | 9.6″ x 11.8″
Available / Find Seascapes for Sale here:It’s weird but the beach parasols and colored items are not an easy subject. Often I can toss out some paintings that didn’t work. This one worked.
If you’d ask: “What’s so difficult then?”
I think it’s mostly about getting the colors to match, that’s 1).
You do want a lot of colors but you also want these to support each other.
Then 2) You want a believable perspective in.
You want to include the far away and combine it with the near.
If it were an ’empty beach’ it’s easier to create a working perspective.
So it might take a bit more scrutinizing during the painting session.
– Taking out colors/replacing colors that do not ‘fit’.
– Measuring sizes, heights, colors to fit the right perspective.
Of course, painting ocean, sky, and sand, that’s something you can practice all year long.
But here in Holland these colorful crowded Summerish moments just last a few weeks, so I might have to wait a full year to get back into it again.
Who knows, August might end in a new heatwave!
Here’s a picture from the scene.
