This is ‘Sparks of Sun on Ocean’.
The glitter and shimmer on the ocean, it’s really an exciting subject. Difficult.
When you want to try it yourself, just remember, capturing the feeling of it, sometimes I call this ‘essence’, is more important than making the far away mountains be absolutely ‘correct’, or having perfect boats in, waves.
Essence to me lays in color and strokes. Rhythm and color, creating light and light effects, a composition in color strokes.
In this blog post, you’ll find the scene pics, palette and colors used also. Great to be back blogging the stories!

‘Seascape Sparks of Sun on Ocean’
The sparkles on the water, this is what a photo makes of it.
See how hard it would be to paint this idea from a photo.
Best is to paint from life!
Although it’s great to sit and paint in the shade: It’s also a tad harder to ‘move around’:
taking distance regularly is very needed to keep to control the composition.
So if you sit, stand up often, take distance, and of course, use the mirror!
Here’s a video about the Colors that I took for this painting trip, you’ll like it I think!
