• Fun how taking 10 steps further or back, 5 steps right or left delivers such big perspective differences for the painting. • It really decides how tall the palms are, how far into the sky they reach, or how small they’ll be compared to the beach area. Later I’ll post one where they’re much taller into a threatening dark sky. • Good to experiment with this idea. Not putting the easel somewhere random, but to walk, left, right, near, far, to find ‘the perfect spot’.
This is ‘Beach View on Mountains and Palm Trees’. Loved the blue-purple mountains, these were so different in color and value when the sky was all blue.
• Often the clouds help so much in painting light effects. On the water, on everything, even on the far away.

Seascape ‘Beach View on Mountains and Palm Trees’
I love painting in different parts of the world. You’ll find similarities in how light behaves, you’ll find differences.
Clouds do help so much in creating great seascapes.
Of course, Holland is (mostly) a flat country, so I loved to paint the blue-purple mountains at this place also.
You see I rotated the canvas vertical, which I almost never do at home.
