Beach Painting “Kids on the Beach Morning Light”.
Wonderful memories. Saving these in paint is a blessing in itself. At the end of this post, you can see how I’ve set up this beach painting using a mixture of reds.
SSU24-2015 Seascape “Kids on the Beach Morning Light”
oil on canvas, 24×30 cm | 9.6″ x 11.8″ 2015
Here you see a sequence and the underlayers used.
I thought to try to start with an oil underlayer in reds and yellows because of the atmosphere.
As you can see the figures change in the process. The end result doesn’t show the reds so much anymore, but still, they matter a lot. Might you start on white the end result wouldn’t be as warm as it is now. Always look for the mixture of colors that you see. Often a landscape or a sky show two opposites mixed (for the eye) as one.
Sitting on the sand might not be ideal. (Especially when the tide is rising :) However, it gives a nice and different perspective.
