I’ve always loved painting cows and water because it combines so well.
Here the beautiful water lilies partly in light, partly in shade add so much to this painting.
The rhythm of the strokes makes this painting work.
Because of a similar brushstroke for the sky, clouds, cows, lilies, grass, and far away trees this painting feels unified, complete I think.
(This is a painting from last year, I skipped over many from 2018, felt it still had to be included, as I post most of the paintings, and as chronological as possible.)

‘Cows and Water Lilies’
It’s great to paint cows and commit a few months to it.
Not: going to the beach one day, then cows the next, but to commit to 1 subject for a longer period of time.
It helps the end-results a lot to focus in and to experiment within the boundaries of a topic, spot or place.
These pics are a bit on the blue side, being in shadow/backlight, but you can see how many different greens were mixed!
